Greggs welcomes more customers through its doors

Demand for fast food still seems to be growing, as high street retailer Greggs reports a rise in both customer numbers and products.

At a time when the government is trying to encourage more people to consider healthy eating, the chain witnessed an eight per cent increase in profits throughout 2010.

On average, Greggs welcomes six million customers per week, with sales rising 2.1 per cent over the 12-month period.

"Whilst many high street retailers are struggling, Greggs is bucking the trend demonstrating steady growth for investors seeking long term return," explained the Share Centre.

It added that one of the main contributors to the company's success has been the range of goods it offers in store, as well as its ability to adapt to consumer demand.

McDonald's recently announced that it would be displaying the nutritional information of its products in UK stores from September 2011.
