Pregnant women 'must follow a balanced diet'

Choosing the best cookware will help pregnant women to eat a range of nutrient-packed recipes, which is essential for expectant mums.

Jacqui Clinton, health campaigns manager at Tommy's, said that women need to consume "a balanced diet, full of vitamins and minerals which will help their baby to develop healthily".

However, Ms Clinton highlighted that it is important to check the recipes that people are planning to create with their best cookware, as there are a number of ingredients that should be avoided in pregnancy.

"[This includes] pate, liver, mould-ripened cheese and raw eggs," she explained.

Having a balance between the four food groups of starchy carbohydrates, fruit and vegetables, protein-rich foods and dairy products is the best way to stay healthy and support a growing baby, Ms Clinton advised.

Recent research published in BJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology suggested that expectant mums may be more likely to use cookware to create nutritious recipes during pregnancy, as they are more conscious about their lifestyle choices.
