Take action to reduce grocery bills
There are a number of savvy ways in which consumers can cut down on the cost of their weekly shop, the Daily Telegraph has said.
It recommended that people become aware of the tactics deployed by supermarkets to get them to part with more cash than they initially intended.
For example, the paper claimed that the most expensive products are generally placed at eye level, so looking up or down could lead to shoppers finding cheaper alternatives.
It suggested that consumers should also not be dismissive of own-brand products until they have tried them for themselves, as they are often more affordably yet taste quite the same.
Additionally, the paper said that homeowners should avoid throwing out food that can still be eaten.
IGD Retail found earlier this month that 91 per cent of people expect food prices to increase over the next 12 months.
