Can beer help promote a healthy diet?

Drinking one pint of beer a day can aid people with their healthy eating routines, new research has suggested.

Spanish doctors Ramon Estruch and Rosa Lamuela carried out a study on 1,249 men and women over 57 years old, finding that many lost weight after drinking a pint per day.

"In this study we banish myths. We know that beer is not to blame for obesity," they told the Daily Mail.

The project, entitled Mediterranean Diet and Cardiovascular Disease, found that beer can have many of the positive health implications associated with the moderate drinking of wine.

Scientists at St Andrews and Bristol universities recently claimed that eating foods with high pigmentation, such as carrots and plums, can make people appear healthier and more attractive.

The study involved 40 volunteers and found that a real improvement could be seen after as little as two months.
