Jamie Oliver recipe book takes festive top spot

The latest recipe book from Jamie Oliver has proved a hit with home cooks, taking the Christmas number one spot in the book chart.

Nielsen BookScan data shows that Jamie's 30-Minute Meals has sold 149,640 copies over the past week alone, clearly outselling its rivals.

This equates to around 15 books every minute, with in excess of one million copies sold since its launch less than three months ago.

Oliver took to his Twitter page to thank those who had made the recipe book a success: "Wanted to say thanks for supporting 30 min meals book. We have just broken the million book sales!! Couldn't have done it without you guys!"

The last cook book to have seen similar success was Delia Smith's How To Cook (Book One), which was launched back in 1998.

Earlier this week, the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine named Gordon Ramsay's World Kitchen: Recipes from The F-Word as the least healthy recipe book of the year.
