Home cooking changes expected in 2011

The way in which home cooks operate will change next year, if the results of a new survey are to be believes.

For example, mobile devices will take more of a role when it comes to deciding what to eat, AllRecipes.com found, with 63 per cent saying they would use their smartphone for inspiration.

Respondents also revealed they would be taking a new approach to ethnic cooking, with many trying out meals they would usually have in a restaurant with their own cookware, the Independent reports.

Furthermore, there will be a renewed focus on healthy eating, with many continuing with the good habits they adopted in 2010.

Of those polled, almost 90 per cent said they were eating more fruit and vegetables this year than ever before, while 30 per cent relied less heavily on meat.

Earlier this week, it was revealed that McDonald's is hoping to improve its image by offering oatmeal as a breakfast option in some US outlets.
