Great Northern Pork Pie Festival scheduled
The Great Northern Pork Pie Festival has been scheduled at Skipton Castle on November 28th.
Butchers from within Yorkshire and Lancashire will attend the event, hoping to claim the title of being the Pork Pie Supreme Champion Winner, according to the Telegraph and Argus.
Mr Ward, a judge at the event, told the website: "First we judge the appearance then it is cut in half and we examine the content, its colour, confirmation and that there are no air pockets."
This news comes after the Retford Times reported that Mellors Farm Shop was awarded the Taste of Bassetlaw accolade in recognition of its pork goods.
The award was delivered to the shop's owner Pete Mellor during a ceremony which featured the television chef Richard Fox.
Mr Mellor told the website that his shop puts "110 per cent" into its products and always uses "quality ingredients" across its range of pork foods.
