It is the 'perfect time' for rich wedding foods

Winter is the perfect time for wedding guests to be treated to rich and soothing food and drink, an expert says.

This is because food trends differentiate between the seasons and people should take the opportunity to serve food such as traditional roasts and meats, according to a representative from Perfect Wedding.

Helen Webster, editor at Perfect Wedding, said: "Take your cue from the seasons; people enjoy richer things at that time of year."

Ms Webster added that weddings are seeing a return to more "traditional cookery" and used Jamie Oliver's recently opened London restaurant, which offers a range of meat dishes, as an example of how attitudes are changing.

Meanwhile, Toast Your Event has revealed that fish and chip vans are becoming more prominent at weddings, where they are seen "almost every weekend".

The organisation also claimed that salt beef and hog roasts are seeing an increase in popularity.
