Award given to Nottinghamshire farm shop
Mellors Farm Shop, which is situated near Retford, has been given the Taste of Bassetlaw award for its range of pork products.
The accolade was handed to the shop owner at a ceremony in Welbeck earlier this week by television chef Richard Fox, according to the Retford Times.
Mellors Farm Shop owner Pete Mellor told the website: "I think what we do is produce not just pies and pasties and all kinds of pork products, but we put 110 per cent in and we use quality ingredients."
Richard Fox is not the only celebrity chef who has been involved in recognising the merits of local produce, as Simon Rimmer will be judging a baking contest in Greater Manchester this weekend, according to the Manchester Evening News.
Simon Rimmer gained recognition for his role in the television show Something for the Weekend, but on October 30th he will be scrutinising the work of bakers at the Post Office Deli in Levenshulme.
