North Devon Foodfest attracts over 8,000

The North Devon Foodfest in Barnstaple Pannier Market attracted over 8,000 visitors on Sunday.

This year marked the festival's third anniversary and hosted over 70 local stands that advertised foods, cooking demonstrations and music, according to the North Devon Gazette.

In addition, the newspaper reported that numerous awards were presented to food outlets at the event including best restaurant, which was awarded to Zena's in Barnstaple, while Cheristow Lavendar in Hartland won the best cafe or tea room award.

This news comes after a Staffordshire restaurant received an accolade in the Taste of Staffordshire Good Food Awards, according to the Staffordshire Sentinel.

Sanjeev's restaurant in Baddeley Green was handed the top restaurant of the year (non-European and Asian influence) award at the ceremony.

The restaurant's owner Sanjeev Kumar said to the newspaper: "I am very proud to have won this award, both for myself and my staff."

Mr Kumar has also previously won an International Indian Chef of the Year title.
