Simon Rimmer judges baking contest

Simon Rimmer will be judging a baking competition for the charity MacMillan on October 30th at the Post Office Deli in Levenshulme, Greater Manchester.

The celebrity chef is renowned for his work on BBC's Something for the Weekend programme and he will be returning to assist his associate Terry Hemmings, who runs the Levenshulme restaurant, according to the Manchester Evening News.

Meanwhile, five students from Scotland are preparing to have their baking skills tested at a regional baking competition final, where the prize will be an apprenticeship with Warburtons bakers.

Competitors include Amy Cooke, Lucy Cooke and Andrew Mackay, who are based in areas cross Hamilton and Motherwell, according to the Wishaw Press.

Warburtons' Bolton headquarters will offer competition winners a chance to participate in a live baking contest, where the title of Warburtons Young Baker of the Year will be up for grabs.
