Bakery competition announced for apprenticeship
Five students from Scotland will have their baking skills tested at a regional baking competition final this week, where the prize will be an apprenticeship with Warburtons bakers.
The entrants are Amy Cooke, Lucy Cooke Carol Ryan from Motherwell, Charlotte Skilling from Hamilton and Andrew Mackay from Carluke, according to the Wishaw Press.
Competition winners will be invited to a live baking competition at Warburtons' Bolton headquarters, where they will vie for the right to be called Warburtons Young Baker of the Year.
Meanwhile, National Baking Week is scheduled from October 18th and a new initiative has been announced entitled "take a cake break", persuading employees to take a break everyday at 15:00 BST to eat a cake or some baked goods of their own choosing.
British workers work some of the longest hours in Europe, as one in three men and one in ten women work more than 50 hours a week and the scheme has been designed to ease the associated stresses.
